Ghoskata Unit Claims Victory in Banargaon Anchalik Committee U-13 Football Tournament

The Ghoskata unit of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) emerged triumphant in the 4th edition of the U-13 football tournament organized by the Banargaon Anchalik Committee on Friday.

 The final match, held on Friday at the Kanthalguri Udangshri Club playground, saw Ghoskata unit defeat Khagrabari unit by a thrilling 5-4 scoreline.

The tournament, aimed at unearthing young sporting talent in the region, attracted nine teams. After a hard-fought battle, Ghoskata unit secured victory with a dominant second-half performance. Despite trailing 2-1 at halftime, they clawed their way back with four goals, ultimately defending their lead despite Khagrabari's additional two goals.

Giyansu Brahma of Khagrabari unit was awarded the "Best Player" trophy for his outstanding performance throughout the tournament.

Kampa Basumatary, General Secretary of the Kokrajhar district committee, ABSU, graced the prize distribution ceremony as the chief guest. He presented the championship trophy and cash prize money to the winning Ghoskata unit. Hantigiri Narzary, UPPL media secretary, and Kalendra Basumatary, headmaster of Kanthalguri LP School, presented the runners-up trophy and cash prize money to the Khagrabari unit. Notably, both Narzary and Basumatary generously contributed towards the cash prizes for the winning and runners-up teams, along with trophies and medals for the tournament.

The final match was held under the chairmanship of Karuna Kanta Basumatary, chairman of the conduct committee. The event witnessed the presence of prominent figures from Banargaon Anchalik Committee, Bodosahitya Sabha, Boro Somaj, Tribal Sangha, and Banargaon Development Committee. Adding a touch of cultural vibrancy, a mesmerizing Bodo cultural demonstration dance was also performed on the occasion.

KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday.. Kokrajhar: The first ever edition of the All Assam Prize Money Non-Ranking Badminton Championship-2021 concluded on Tuesday after a two-day programme was scheduled to be held at the indoor stadium of the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in Kokrajhar district. At least three persons died and several others received injuries due to the lightning struck at Anthaibari under Bengtol police outpost in Chirang district on Wednesday afternoon.
