Koklabari constituency bye-poll on June 8

The Assam state election commission announced  the date and scheduled for the by-election for No.22 Koklabari constituency in Bodoland Territorial Region on 8th June.

Addressing a press conference on Thursday, Assam's state election commissioner, Alok Kumar issued the notification for conduct the bye poll for Koklabari constituency in Baksa district with effect from Thursday. The last date of nomination is fixed on 23rd May, and scrutiny is on 24th May. The election will take place on June 8th and counting will be held on June 12th.

The bye poll in Koklabari constituency was necessitated following BTR CEM Pramod Boro resigning as MCLA from Koklabari constituency being elected as MCLA from Goybari constituency.

Two girls hailed from Kokrajhar district were rescued from Muradabad of Delhi and Sersha district of Haryana    and brought back them in Kokrajhar on Monday.  Shyamal Prasad Saikia, Kokrajhar SP told the reporters on Monday that police rescued two girls from different two places in Delhi and Haryana state on May 13, who were hailed from Gossaigaon and Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district. The girls were trafficked from Kokrajhar district few months back in the neighboring states and rescued them on supports from GRP, Muradabad and some NGO activists. Road mishap killed two persons and another received serious injury at Dhaligaon National Highway early this morning in Chirang district. At least 24 persons including 9 children were taken ill after taking medicines from the mobile medical unit of the NRHM at Dotma Titeliguri in Kokrajhar district. The victims complain of vomiting, headache, stomach pain after taking the medicines taken from the mobile medical unit on Friday.
