The Kokrajhar district administration is all prepared for peaceful counting of votes scheduled on May 19 for three constituencies in the district, besides security tightened for peaceful counting.
There are three constituencies in Kokrajhar district i.e-30-Kokrajhar east, 29-Kokrajhar west and 28-Gossaigaon where 23 candidates are in fray and counting of votes would be held on May 19 at Basic Training Centre for Kokrajhar east LAC, Gossaigaon sub-divisional headquarters for Kokrajhar west and Gossaigaon LACs. Six candidates’ fate have been sealed in EVM for Kokrajhar east LAC, 10 candidates in fray for Kokrajhar west LAC and seven in Gossaigaon LAC respectively.
Madhav Prasad Sarma,Kokrajhar DC said over 150 counting personnel had already been appointed and imparted training as per the guideline of the ECI. He said adequate security arrangement included three tier security deployment have been made to thwart any untoward incidents during the counting day. He said army has been kept stand by in case of emergency. Election Observers for the counting have reported and 144 CrPC has also clamped in the district to meet healthy situation in the district.
‘Preparations have so far completed in the district for the counting of EVM. The counting would take place in three centres, included Basic Training Centre for Kokrajhar east LAC and two at Gossaigaon sub-divisional headquarters office premises for Kokrajhar west and Gossaigaon. The counting would begin from 8 am in the morning and necessary measures have been completed so far to the purpose’,Sarma said.
