KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. The victim was rushed to the RNB civil hospital in Kokrajhar. Mukesh Kumar of Bihar was identified as the victim.
As previously reported on Wednesday, the police arrested three people in connection with the recovery of 91 kgs of ganja in Karigaon.
According to police, in connection with a follow-up search carried out in the Bishmuri OP area, where more ganga packets were believed to be hidden, based on the confession of the driver Mukesh Kumar.
Police claimed: 'While searching for the consignment, Mukesh Kumar attempted to snatch the weapon of one of the constables and tried to flee the scene. The case's I/O fired one round into the air in an attempt to stop the fleeing accused driver, but he did not stop. Another round needed to stop him.
Meanwhile, some miscreants set the Scorpio vehicle on fire that was kept near Karigaon.
