Journalist shot dead in Kokrajhar

Some unidentified miscreants shot dead a journalist in the heart of the Kokrajhar town on Saturday afternoon. The journalist, Jagjit Saikia, was working as a correspondent of the Amar Asom, a vernacular daily published from Guwahati.

According to eyewitness , some unidentified miscreants attacked Saikia when he was standing in front of his office at the Brahma Complex in the heart of the Kokrajhar town. A grievously injured Saikia was rushed to the Rupnath Brahma Civil Hospital but he was declared brought dead.

After the incident , the miscreants fled from the scene. Later, police arrived on the spot and started operation to nab the culprits. The miscreants have yet to be ascertained but these are believed to be the BRTF militants who are behind this incident.
