Guwahati: Even as COVID19 has not reached the state, Assam is remaining on maximum alert to keep the killer virus at bay.
Roads, mostly in the rural areas are lying deserted since the people are confined to their homes.
But in many urban areas, including the city of Guwahati some people are still found on the road bereft of any reason forcing the police to read the riot act.
Towards the afternoon s section groceries opened for a couple of hours to help the people gather essential commodities.
"But the government lacks coordination which was why, the people are confused, " said Debabrata Saikia. According to the Opposition leader in the state assembly, whatever decision is government takes should be after proper consultation and consensus.
"Had there been better coordination, there won't have been any situation like unruly crowd in the open markets and shops on Friday, " said Saikia.
Health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said, "the announcement of donations are pouring in from the legislators and employees would be sufficient to build 5 new hospitals."
Sarma, who has been remaining alert for the last one week, clamied that the government initiatives only has been able to prevent the killer virus into the state where thousands of people have died abroad.
