Sal logs seized

KOKRAJHAR: Forest department in Chirang, seized several numbers of tractors and trucks which were carrying illeglly felling sal timbers from Selekaguri, Shantipur, Deosri area under Runikata forest range on Thursday in Chirang district.

The seized timbers are kept now at Runikata forest range office.

Recently,forest department officials have seized a large number of smuggling timbers at Kachugaon in Kokrajhar district.

The seized timbers  are valued at Rs.20.

The forest department has been taking stern measures to check timber smuggling in the region and necessary deployments are made so far, said a senior forest official in BTAD.

KOKRAJHAR: Two people were killed on the spot in a late-night road accident in Balajan Pakriguri under Kokrajhar police station. According to police, two people were travelling on a bike and met with mishaps that claimed two people on the spot at a roadside parking dumper in Pakriguri along JD Road late at night around 2.15 am on Tuesday night under Kokrajhar police station. Badminton Championship Concludes

Kokrajhar: The first ever edition of the All Assam Prize Money Non-Ranking Badminton Championship-2021 concluded on Tuesday after a two-day programme was scheduled to be held at the indoor stadium of the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in Kokrajhar district. All together 95 teams of across the state  participated in a championship that saw a healthy sporting environment in the region which was organised by Kokrajhar District Badminton Association (KDBA). Lightning kills 3 in Chirang

At least three persons died and several others received injuries due to the lightning struck at Anthaibari under Bengtol police outpost in Chirang district on Wednesday afternoon. According to the source, three persons have died and several other people from Anthaibari area received serious injuries due to heavy lightning this afternoon while people were watching a football match at Anthaibari playground. The injured persons were immediately rushed to the Bengtol missionary hospital where three persons were declared brought dead. Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science Centre has been disconnected from electricity supply due to non payment of bills

Electricity to the Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science center was cut off because there's an outstanding bill of 1.83 lakh. Due to power cutoff, the Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science centre is currently not functional. Police launched crackdown on NLFB

Police administration have vowed for a strict operation against NLFB in Kokrajhar district as NIA has so far circulated most wanted and head count Rs. 10 lakh against the leader of NLFB M Batha.
