Kargil Divas Observed

A Series of program conducted at C  coy, 24 Bn SSB Rangia to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kargil Victory Day which held from 20 to 26th July. In this occasion drawing and essay writing competition was held at the adopted school of Rajagarh in the presence of school teachers and prominent persons of the village.

Prizes were distributed among the winners and students were made aware about the supreme sacrifices, dedication and devotion of our soldiers demonstrated during the Kargil War.

A volley ball tournment was organised between the SSB jawans and  No. 4 Rajagarh boys. The later became winners and rewarded with Sports Jersey's and items. In the evening a candle march was organized in the presence of Dhiraj Kr. Saha Asst. Comdt., AC/Comm. Shri S. Sanjiva Rao, Inspector Alok Kr. Sarma, Inspector Apurva Sarkar and the prominent person of Rajagarh at the street between Rajagarh to Saharia Chowk.

During the entire course of celebration of Kargil Vijay Divas, the message by comdt. 24th Bn were passed to the lacal populance of Rajagarh to mark the importance of Kargil Vijay Diwas.

Wild elephant kills one

Men-elephant conflict refuses to die down in the Indo- Bhutan border of Udalguri district. A man lost his life in an incident of Elephant attack on Sunday morning while he came out from his house in search of work. Baby born in tea bushes

A tea worker of Borengajuli tea estate under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district gave birth to an infant in tea bushes while plucking tea leaves. The worker has been admitted in the civil hospital Tangla while her infant baby was found dead. The workers have created a havoc in this regard. The female tea workers usually loaded with heavy burden and pressure & ignorance  from the management have been left for survival.  

Tea doc held for negligence

The workers of Bhutiachang tea estate in Assam's Udalgur district on Tuesday thrashed the doctor of the garden following the death of an adult girl Mansika Mahali (13). They alleged that the worker died owing to the negligence and wrong treatment by Subindra Bishwal, the Senior Medical Officer of the garden. Sources said Mansika Mahali, a tea garden worker's daughter, was down with fever for the past night. She was brought to the dispensary around 4 am on Tuesday. The estate chowkider informed that a case has come but the doctor arrived at 7.30 am and on giving wrong treatment the adult died at the hospital. Hosts Sahara Club Hattigore annexed the title in the first Champions trophy cricket tournament on Wednesdya, defeating Paschimpatala club by six wickets in the final at Khoirabari playground in the premise of Hattigore Tea Estate. Bidisha Kachari wins Conquest I.Q. Olympiad

Bidisha Kachari, second standard student of Maharishi Vidya Mandir Tangla under Udalguri district of Assam makes her school proud by achieving eighth position in the All India Inter School Quiz Competition organized by Conquest I.Q. Huge storm lashes Udalguri

Properties worth lakhs of rupees have been ravaged when a huge storm unleashed a reign of terror in Udalguri district disrupting surface communication in many places on Saturday morning. Accompanied by heavy downpour, the storm hit Tangla, Bhergaon, Dimakuchi, Totlapara, Dharamjuli, Nashanshali, Borengajuli  in the morning which continued for around half an hour. Many houses collapsed and many trees, electric and telephone posts were uprooted to block the vital roads. No casulaty is reported. But it would take time to restore the surface communication network.  

Palm Sunday observes in Sunday

As the holy week for the Christian community begins the world over, the community in Orengajuli tea garden also celebrated Palm Sunday in the market complex. The celebrations marks the annual commemoration of the Holy Week of Passion, Death and Resurrection of Jesus Christ that has been observed traditionally for centuries. Awareness programme on human trafficking held Bhergaon

A day long district level awareness campaign, a state convergent plan of action on child welfare in Assam was held at Millenium Academy, Suklai, Udalguri on Friday. The programme was organised by Child Protection Unit (DCPU), Udalguri in partnership with State Child Protection Society to make awareness about protection of children from trafficking, child labour, early marriage, substance abuse and sexual harrashment , violence against children and role of community among society. The world TB Day was observed along with the rest of the world at Orengajuli tea garden hospital on 24th March which was organised by District Health Society, RNTCP Udalguri in collaboration with Orengajuli tea garden.Tuberculosis has become a major problem in Assam’s tea gardens, often leading to the death of workers.
