School gets library

Tea Giant, Goodricke Group Limited operating Orangajuli and Nonaipara Tea gardens in the area under its Corporate Social Responsibility scheme has donated an e-library building to Garuajhar High School near Paneri in Udalguri district. The foundation stone of the same was jointly laid by General Manager and Sr. Manager of  Oranagjuli Tea garden,Talat Ahmed and P.J Das respectively at a ceremonious event held in the school premises on Friday.

A meeting to this effect was also held at the school premises where the teachers hailed the good will decision of the giant tea company. The teachers however lamemted the lack of adequate number of teaching staffs which has accounted for high teacher student ratio.Talking to mediapersons on the sideline of the programme, General Manager,Ahmed expressed his gratitude to Goodricke Group for granting the proposal of the e-library which will be completed within three montha at an estimated amount of ten lakhs .

He also reiterated the commitment of the tea company for bridging the gap and bringing in social upliftment specifically in education and literacy.The event was attended by host of tea garden managenent staffs of Orangajuli and Nonaipara Tea garden including Dy. Manager of Orangajuli,Indibor Gogoi;  Labour Welfare Officer,Orangajuli,Atanu Seal along with members of Assam Chah Mazdoor Sangha(ACMS),CITU,AASAA among others.

As part of Swach Bharat Abhiyan, sanitation wing of Tangla Town Commitee today organised cleanliness drive in the town. Several areas of the town have been cleaned of garbage, horticulture waste and debris. The cleanliness drive was joined by local people suppoted by members of Akhil Hindi Bhashi Bikas Parishad, students of Dr. BR Ambedkar Hindi Medium school along with the sanitary workers of the town committee. Students were seen holding playcards like 'God gave us green let us keep it clean', Use Dustbin and Live Green etc. 
The silver jubilee session of Udalguri district ‘Bathou Mahasabha’ is going to be held at Harisinga from February 6 to 9, 2016. The Harisinga Bathaou Anchalik has taken the initiative to organise this big religious event of the Bodo culture. The venue of the event is fixed at Sonaisri Fwthar, Harisinga. Meanwhile volunteers have been put to work to colect population and education data of the Bodo people and with the collected data a souvenir magazine would be published where data's of population; education, occupation of people number of service holder, cultivates, buisiness man would be published.
The 12 hour Assam bandh called by Hiteswar Barman led AKRSU in demand of ST status to six communities of state namely the Koch Rajbongsi, Adivasi, Motok, Moran, Chutia and Tai Ahoms had paralysed life in the buisiness and educational town of Udalguri district Tangla. All shops and business establishments, educational and financial institutes remained closed during the bandh period. However few schools and Junior colleges with low attendence of students functioned till 12.Except some private vehicles no other vehicles were seen plying on the roads in the town. No untoward incident occurred in the town during the bandh period.
Akhil Hindi Bhasi Vikash Parishad, that works towards the interest of the Hindi speaking communities of four districts of BTC, had its general meeting on November 15 at Tangla where it had formed its regional committee. The meeting was presided over by Central General Secretary Santosh Shah. Chhath puja would be observed on riverbanks and near other water bodies on November 17 and 18 at Tangla. The festival include rigorous fast and rituals spanning four days, holy bathing, abstaining from drinking water, presenting offerings(argh) to the Sun God, standing in water and offering prasad In Tangla devotees would offer their prayers on the bank of two rivers Nonai and Naika. Students of Arunodoi Academy Tangla celebrated Children's day in a special way. The students under the guidance of Principal of the academy Napolean Daimari distributed food packets among the patients of Kalaguru Bishnu Prasad Rabha Hospital, Tangla. Hospital authorities thanked the initiative of the students. Arunodoi Academy has been taking charitable works in the area for the last several years in the interest of society. The school students also donated used clothes and cash in the charity fund.
