Gangmumei Kamei Memorial lecture held
The 2nd Gangmumei Kamei Memorial lecture was organized by the G.K. Foundation on Sunday, the 6th January, 2019 at The Classic Hotel, Imphal. Eminent Anthropologist and General Secretary, The Asiatic Society, Kolkatta delivered the Memorial Lecture on the topic “A Humane Journey into the nature of Human Culture : A personal narrative”. He illuminated the learned gathering by taking the audience into a journey in understanding human culture from a very simple society to its development into a more complex urban society.
Prof. Ksh. Bimola Devi, retired professor of Political science, Manipur University presided over the function. The function was well attended by a galaxy of intellectuals of Manipur, journalists, eminent scholars and well wishers.

A middle-age woman has been shot to death by unidentified gunmen at Tengnoupal district’s Moreh town bordering Myanmar on Monday. The deceased has been identified as Ningombam Shanti Devi. An alleged infiltration of militants from Myanmar has forced the Chandel and Ukhrul district administrations in Manipur to imposed 144 CrPC within three km belt along the Indo-Myanmar border.The round-the-clock vigilance is in place after the authorities got the inputs of the infiltration of disturbing elements from across the international border. The Chandal district magistrate Robert Singh Kshetrimayum in an order on October 15 said that 144 CrPC has been imposed acting on the inputs about infiltration from militant groups and illegal commodities.

The fate of the nine bodies of the Churachandpur protestors is still uncertain. Protesters told Assam Times that JPO is taking care of the bodies in the morgue where traditional herbs are being used.
