Sonapur : One person has been killed and many injured when one bus and one truck collided at 8 pm on Tuesday at Sonapur near Guwahati in NH 37.
The person who has been killed has been identified as Dhal Chetri, Age 35 years. Many of the injured are in critical conditions and have been admitted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital.
The critically injured people are Arun Vaidya of Sapekhati, Prakash Choudhury ( location unknown) . Sajad Ahmed of Bokakhat, Pranjit Dutta of Birubari in Guwahati, Daulat Singh and Mrs Pabitri Singh of Nepal.

The Centre is apparently finding it difficult to take a decision on extension of ceasefire with NDFB with the banned outfit is suspected to be behind the October serial blasts in Assam.The Suspension of Operations lapsed on December, 31, 2008 and even after a few rounds of talks among Home Ministry, the Assam government and NDFB, no decision has been taken so far on extending the agreement.The Centre hopes that the Union home ministry will be able to come to an arrangement and a decision will be taken very quickly. According to information, police arrested one Sanjiv Talukdar from Rangiya on Sunday. Sanjiv, an ULFa cadre had frequent contact with the blast mastermind Pranjal Deka of the outfit's 709 Battalion.
It is learnt that Sanjeev carried the bombs to Adabari area in the city at the instance of another 709 battalion cadre Khagen Kalita and that Panjal himself received the bombs from Sanjiv. Interrogation is on.

Three compartments of a goods train got damaged as militans exploded a poweful bomb on a railway track in North Cachhar district on Sunday morning. According to information, the incident took place between Maibongdisa and Harangajao stations in the hills disitct.According to Northeast Frontier railway sources, no report of injury to any person in the blast. After days months of hectic political confabulations, the Opposition Asom Gana Parishad has struck seat sharing deal with the Bahratiya Janata Party for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. According to information, both the parties have finalised the deal firstly in four seats. The AGP is leaving Mongoldoi and Nagaon for the BJP and retains Dibrugarh and North Lakhimpur. Duibrugarh and Lakhimpur have AGP's sitting MPs while the Nagaon ahd Mongoldoi have BJP candidates.
