Sonapur : One person has been killed and many injured when one bus and one truck collided at 8 pm on Tuesday at Sonapur near Guwahati in NH 37.
The person who has been killed has been identified as Dhal Chetri, Age 35 years. Many of the injured are in critical conditions and have been admitted to the Gauhati Medical College Hospital.
The critically injured people are Arun Vaidya of Sapekhati, Prakash Choudhury ( location unknown) . Sajad Ahmed of Bokakhat, Pranjit Dutta of Birubari in Guwahati, Daulat Singh and Mrs Pabitri Singh of Nepal.

Third Front leaders will meet on Tuesday in Guwahati to complete the seat sharing deal for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The Third Front comprising AUDF, CPM, CP and NCP has already finalised the deal for altogether nine seats. Of them 4 for AUDF, 2 each for CPI and 3 for NCP.
CPI leaders have anounced that the party will field sitting Nazira MLA Drupad Bogohain from Jorhat Lok Sabha seat while Bhugeswar Dutta will be the candidate for Lakhimpur seat.
According to sources, NCP would field one of its candidates in Guwahati Lok Sabha seat.

The Opposition Asom Gana Parishad is gearing up to fight the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. The regional party is all set to clear its list of candidates by February 15.According to party senior leaders, the decision was taken at the first meeting of the party’s election preparation committee held on Friday. An ULFA cadre died at an encounter at Sarthebari area in Barpeta district on Friday evening.According to information, the encounter between the ULFA militants and a team of police and CRPF jawans took place at Na-Satra and the militant was identified Trailakya Deka.Acting on some specific inputs of ULFA presence in the area, a team of police and the CRPF jawans was launching an operation where they locked in an encounter with three ULFA rebels.Policman Younis Ali sustained was injured in the encounter.
