KOKRAJHAR: An eight-member delegation of  a special review committee on detention center, led by chairman Debojit Mukherjee visited the detention center in Kokrajhar on Tuesday. The delegation members include Debojit Mukherjee, deputy inspector of police (Border) and chairman of the committee, district judge (retired) H Singh, IGP of Prisons Barnali Sharma, D Saikia, AIG of Prisons and several senior police officials. There are 142 inmates including 14 minors are kept in the Kokrajhar detention center. There are six detention centers across the state. KOKRAJHAR: The National Press Day-2019 was observed in four districts of Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) on Saturday. Kokrajhar Press Club and district administration jointly organised the National Press Day here at Basic Training Centre in Kokrajhar to mark the national press day. BTC deputy chief Kampa Borgoyary graced as chief guest on the occasion. In his speech, Borgoyary has highlighted about the importance and responsibilities of the press/media persons in today's life as press media has been regarded forth estate in the country. KOKRAJHAR: Security forces apprehended three cadres of the Saoraigwra faction of the National Democratic Front of Boroland (NDFB-S) in the India-Bhutan border area in Chirang district on Monday evening. According to Police source, based on a specific intelligence about movement of NDFB cadres inside Chirang Reserve forest near Bhutan border in Chiang district, a joint operation was launched at remote Indo-Bhutan border area under Runikhata police station by Indian army, CRPF Cobra Battalion and Chirang police on Monday evening and apprehend three cadres of the NDFB-S along with arms. Five-day long Bodoland International Accuracy Paragliding Championship  will be held from Sunday at Dangdupur Hill, Kokrajhar. 130 participants from ten different countries  are going to participate in the event which will showcase attractive paragliding events. The participating countries includ China, Indonesia, Hongkong, Singapore, Japan,Taiwan, Korea, Nepal, Malaysia and Mongolia. The event is being organised by tourism department of Bodoland Territorial Council administration.
