ABSU, NDFB-P up ante on Centre

Kokrajhar: The All Bodo Students Union(ABSU), National Democratic Front of Boroland-Progressive(NDFB-P) and Peoples Joint Action Committee for Boroland Movement(PJACBM) have resolved to intensify the agitation for separate statehood.

Addressing a Press Conference in Kokrajhar on Tuesday, ABSU president Promod Boro and NDFB-P general secretary Govinda Basumatary said the government has failed to fulfill the hopes and aspirations of the Bodos even after BJP promised to solve it before the2014 parliamentary elections.

They said the government lacks goodwill and wants to keep the issue alive for political mileage.

Union minister Kiren Rijiju said the Centre chalked out the issues with ULFA (Progressive) and would sign Peace Agreement. Well and good. We have nothing to oppose it. But we are unhappy with his statement that NDFB factions were not in unanimity to each other in regards to their demands for which it might not be possible to bring early solution to their case. This is nothing but a blatant lie,”they said.

They further said,”How could Rijiju say that there is difference of opinion and demands within NDFB without holding tripartite talk with both? It was nothing but a ploy to hoodwink the people of their failure and unwillingness to resolve the longstanding demand for creating Bodoland state.”
