GUWAHATI: Assam continues to soak in the joy of Holi for the second day on Friday to mark the advent of spring where Barpeta steals the march.
The abode of the site of neo Vaisnavism breaks into a sea of humanity with lakhs of revelers sharing the celebration of the festival of colours.
The focus falls on a huge procession from the Vaishnavite monastery where people from the country and abroad are participating in it. Splashing colours to each others with songs in the lips the procession the event pulls huge crowd.
“This is for the first time I have ever seen the joy of holi since I came to Assam. I won't forget,’ said Jagannath Singh who is a businessman from Madhya Pradesh.
“Yeah. Wonderful. Exciting. I am so much excited to have catch s glimpse of it this time,”said a Japanese tourist who is taking huge delight in the event.
“This is our annual extravaganza which unites the people. The people of all faiths are participating in the procession. This is our tradition which will stand tall,” said Naren Das, a local school teacher in Barpeta.
The event which got off to a colourful start on Thursday will be over on Sunday
