Build economic foundation: CM to youths
DIBRUGARH: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal gave Clarion call to the youths to devote in the field of agriculture and work for building a robust economic foundation for Assam.
Opening the 5th AssamInternational Agri-Horticultural Show at Chowkidinghee playground on Friday, he said there is a close relation between production and economic rejuvenation.
He said initiatives like Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana has been taken up to double the farm income and build solid economic foundation for farmers and raise their dignity in society.
The chief minister also raised his concern on the threat posed by climate change to the future of mankind and opined that protecting and promoting bio-diversity, ecology and organic farming as the answers to it.

The Union cabinet on Wednesday approved an institute of Indian Agriculture Research Centre in Assam. Presided over by prime minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi, the meeting cleared the proposal to set up the country’s premier institute at Gogamukh in Dhemaji bordering Arunachal Pradesh. Sources in Dispur said that the Assam government had also proposed a huge plot of 587 acres in Gogamukh for the project.
