BOKAKHAT: Union surface transport minister Nitin Gadkari on Saturday claimed to taken up the biggest one package for the north eastern region after the Independence. Addressing a Press conference in Kaziranga in the morning, Gadkari flanked by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal announced Rs 2.5 lakh crore to uplift the road communication network in Assam.
He said the Centre has already cleared the decks to construct 35,000 km road in the state in 2018. This is in addition to the proposal for five more bridges over the river Brahmaputra. Sonowal formally handed over to the Union minister the detailed project report for the Brahmaputra Express Highway and he urged the Centre to go ahead with the proposal for a ring road in Guwahati city.
The minister said the ring road construction wont be a problem of the authority clears plot. Gadkari arrived in Assam on Friday and left straightly to Majuli to unveil a huge package of the Brahmaputra Board.
