Tea garden owners sent to jail

GOLAGHAT: A local court in Golaghat sent Subir Roy and Damir Roy to jail on Thursday a day after they shot at six of their tea garden workers for demanding wages.

Police arrested the owner duo of the tea garden near Numligarh hours after the incident triggering anger among the workers who called district bandh on Thursday.

They fired upon a group of workers when they demanded wages and bonus which they have not received.

One worker received sustained injury while five others received mild injury who have been admitted in the Golaghat Civil Hospital.
