LEDO:Extortion is the main reason behind the rebel attack in Ledo on Tuesday where five vehicles were set on fire.
Sources told Assam Times that a group of Naga rebels has been serving extortion notices to the coal mining authorities.
Money was not paid to the rebels despite repeated calls and notices. That's why, the rebels fighting for a greater Nagalim unleashed no less reign of terror in the coal mining at Koliori bordering Arunachal Pradesh.
According to information, a group of armed Naga rebels reached the coal mining when Coal India Limited and NE Coal workers were holding a joint workshop.
Initially, they fired upon at an oil tanker where the fire erupted and engulfed a few other coal truck and dumper.
Then they vanished leaving the workers to be trapped till early in the morning.
The incident has forced the authorities tighten security round the click. It further, had proved beyond doubt that a section of Naga rebels has been unleashing terror in the form of extortion.
