LK Advani arriving today at Guwahati

Amid a mammoth security arrangement, BJP’s prime ministerial candidate L.K.Adavani is arriving in Guwahati on Sunday. The former deputy prime minister is schedule to address two public rallies in Guwahati and Shillong to sound poll bugle for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.

The recent e-mail threratening to blow up the BJP’s never-say-die spirit as soon as he arrives in Shillong has forced both Assam and its neighbouring Meghalaya to beef up security ring during Mr Advani’s visit. Besides, the Z category ring, the Assam police is put on maximum alert to ensure safety and security to the BJP stalwart.

The main Opposition Asom Gana Parishad pins high hope on Advani’s visit that could help the regional party to brighten the poll prospect. The BJP leader is schedule to hold a brain storming meeting with AGP leaders to formally forge an electoral alliance for the Lok Sabha poll which is round the corner. The seat sharing deal could help AGP victory riding piggyback on help from BJP.

It may be noted that one Mominul Haque, poising himself to be an Indian Mujahiddin terrorist from Shillong in an e-mail threatened to blow up Advani on his arrival. But later he was tracked and apprehended before being remanded to 14 days police custody.

Union Home minister P Chidambaram today expressed his satisfaction over the law and order situation of Assam. Two hardcore anti-talk faction of NDFB cadres were killed at Misarai in Sonitpur district of Assam today May 24 in an encounter with the security forces. A pistol, two mobile phones and two bicycles were recovered from the slain ultras. They were not identified yet.Another cadre of this militant was killed yesterday in same district. Four rhino poachers were killed on May 21 at the Kaziranga National Park in an encounter with forest guards. The encounter took place at Mihirmukh in the Kohara range during the time of a daily vigil by the guards. One .303 rifle was recovered from them.
