GUWAHATI: Amid the crucial probe into the APSC scam, the Gauhati High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail petition moved by chairman Rakesh Paul who has been languishing in jail for the last several months.
A disappointed Paul and his legal team now has no option to pin hopes on the Supreme Court for respite. His lawyers, sources, say are moving the apex court challenging the ruling on Tuesday.
A division bench of the court ruled that since the probe into the nefarious cash for job scam has reached a crucial stage, the bail is not advisable for the chairman.
Paul who two months back procured bail from the Supreme Court was rearrested acting on a fresh bribery case registered against him in Bhangagarh police outpost.
Sources told Assam Times that Paul is moving the country's apex court challenging the High Court's ruling on Tuesday.

NEW DELHI:There seems to be no respite for Subodh Biswas and his henchmen who clashed with student leaders in Silapithar six months back. The Supreme Court on Friday turned down his bail plea and agreed to hear the plea in February next year. GUWAHATI: In a strange revelation two persons arrested a couple of days back in the outskirt of Guwahati confessed to have been trying to eliminate Himanta Biswa Sarma for ₹5 crore. GUWAHATI: A local court in Guwahati on Thursday remanded two police officers to judicial custody a day after CID arrested the duo in connection with the sensational Jugdal case where local resident Harakanta Doloi along with five of his family members were hacked to death under mysterious circumstances in 2009. The CID which has been probing the case arrested the then Sonapur police station officer in charge Pranab Jyoti Deka and investigation officer Motlib Chaudhury charging the duo with trying to destroy evidence at the instance of the culprits.
