ASEB lifts Daoharu Mungkhlong trophy

Assam State Electricity Board(ASEB),Guwahati defeated Salbagan Football Club (FC), Gossaigaon 5-0 goals to lift the 20th Daoharu Mungkhlong Football Trophy -2017 in the final match being played at Dotma HS School in Kokrajhar district on Sunday.

For ASEB, Hiteswar Narzary netted first goal in 18th minutes against Salbagan and led the match 1-0 in the first half. Akhrang Narzary of ASEB scored three goals in 55th,66th and 70th minutes.Vishal Sooner netted one goal in 60th minutes against Salbagan in the second half of the match which led the to win the trophy 5-0 goals.Akhrang Narzary was awarded best player in the match and given away a trophy and cash 5,000.

BTC chief Hagrama Mohilary handed oper the championship trophy and cash reward 50,000 while Mrithunjay Narzary, BTC executive member gave away runners trophy and cash 25,000.

Thousands of spectators from different atas of Kokrajhar district and its adjoining region witnessed the final match.

Mohilary lauded the football trophy organisers for organising football trophies in the name of Bodoland martyrs. 'We must recalled contributions of martyrs, who were dedicated their valueble lives for the cause of Bodoland homeland ',Mohilary said.

The trophy has been organised in memory of martyrs who were sacrifice their lives in the Bodoland movement for the cause of Bodoland statehood. The trophy has been created strong amusement among sports lovers in the region, which was started in 1997,said a organiser of the trophy.

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Narzary has represented India in several international events and is the daughter of Biswajit Narzary of Khagrabari village in Kokrajhar district. The award will be presented to her during the Baokhungri festival celebration at Baokhungri Hill site near Harinaguri in Kokrajhar. Three individuals, including former MLA and senior BPF (Bodoland People's Front) leader Hitesh Basumatary, were arrested by police in Baksa district after a search operation at Basumatary's residential complex resulted in the recovery of a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition. Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) team won the trophy defeating Lai Autonomous Council (LADC) of Mizoram 1-0 in the final match of inter sixth schedule premier league -2022 being held at SAI SAG center,Kathalguri Titaguri in Kokrajhar district.
