Aditya Baruah brings laurels to College of Fisheries,Raha

The sumptuousness of College of Fisheries, Assam Agricultural University, Raha, in the dome of imparting quality education and nurturing talent, once again has been appreciated nationally. The signature of laurels, this time, brought by a outgoing Bachelor of Fisheries Science (B.F.Sc.) Student Mr. Aditya Baruah by begging the Dr.E.G.Silas Award. The three tier examination which is known as Best Fisheries Graduate of India (BFGI) is conducted every year by the PFGF (Professional Fisheries Graduate Forum). Aditya came out with the 3rd Best Fisheries Graduate of India. He hails from Jorhat district of Assam. Currently he is pursuing his M.F.Sc. (Master of Fisheries Science) in ICAR- Central Institute of Fisheries Education (CIFE), Mumbai acquiring ICAR-Junior Research Fellowship award to pursue Masters in Agricultural Science. Aditya thanked each and every faculty member for their hard work and dedication towards imparting quality teaching and research in the field of Fisheries Science. He specially thanked Mr.Bipul Phukan, Asstt Professor, Deptt. of Fishery Resource Management for shouldering the extra work of being the co-ordinator of PFGF examination in the college. The Dean of the College Dr.K.K.Tamuli has expressed his exuberance and he pledge to continue the success saga of the faculty in the area of Fisheries Science.

A severe hailstorm lashed greater Raha and its adjacent areas of Nagaon district on Friday morning causing widespread damage by uprooting many mature trees,snapping power lines at many places.Many houses were also damaged in Amsoi,Gaspara,Balikuchi, Beltola,Salmara and Nakuchi by the hailstorm. Hailstones as large as tennis balls were reported, denting vehicle roofs and making people run helter-skelter for cover. Lasting for about an-hour, the hailstorm also caused damage to crop fields of the said areas. Fortunately,no loss of life has been reported.

Batadrava Police apprehended two bike lifters along with a stolen motorcycle on Thusday. The duo have been Identified as Azizul haque and Majibur Khaleq of Batamari village under Batadrava police Station, Nagaon. One stolen bike (no. Two suspected cattle thieves were beaten to death by a group of villagers at Kachamari in Nagaon district on Sunday noon.The one of the two deceased was identified as Rashidul haque,a resident of Juria, Nagaon while the other is still to be identified. One Bangladeshi migrant illegally residing in Langia village, Dhing in Nagaon district was arrested on Tuesday. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the person who was declared as foreigner by the Nagaon District Foreigners Tribunal. Identified as Iraj Ali, the foreigner came to Assam after 1971, was sent to the Foreigners Detention Camp in Tezpur.

Sensation prevails at Hatimuria, under Moirabari Police station, Morigaon on Monday when Bandhan Bank Moirabari branch staff Kuldeep Borah was allegedly shot at and looted by 3 motorcycle-borne unidentified miscreants in daylight at Hatimuria Village.
