The Centre is very much worried over the delay in the rail project in Meghalaya in the face of stiff opposition from a number of organization.
Union minister Sadananda Gowda who was on a visit to Shillong said that the Union government, if need be, is ready to talk to the organizations who are dead opposed to the project.
He said clearing of land is another reason why the ₹6000 crore project is taking do much time. Once the gov't talks with the NGOs, these problems would be over.
Led by Khasi Students Union has been opposing the project fearing the rush of migrant labourers from outside.
