NDFB-S cadre arrested

Security forces apprehended a cadre of NDFB-S from Dahalapara area of Kokrajhar district on Friday morning.

Based on input about presence of NDFB-S cadre,a joint team of police and army launched a search operation along Dahalapara area under Kokrajhar PS on Friday morning and able to arrest cadre of the NDFB-S along with arms. He was identified as Derhasat Basumatary(22).

 A pistol along with magazine,three live bullets,a mobile handset was recovered from him.He was involved with extortion in the area.

 Arrested cadre revealed that he was associated with Janimun Basumatary alias Galor,who was eliminated at an encounter with security forces on July 25 at New Bashbari area in Kokrajhar district. He was given a pistol from Galor and involved with organisational work since few two months back in the area,arrested cadre said.

Lightning kills 3 in Chirang

At least three persons died and several others received injuries due to the lightning struck at Anthaibari under Bengtol police outpost in Chirang district on Wednesday afternoon. According to the source, three persons have died and several other people from Anthaibari area received serious injuries due to heavy lightning this afternoon while people were watching a football match at Anthaibari playground. The injured persons were immediately rushed to the Bengtol missionary hospital where three persons were declared brought dead. Family members of NLFB leader M Batha have expressed their happiness because M Batha and other members of the militant outfit returned to the mainstream on Thursday M Batha is originally from Daloabari village of Kokrajhar district. Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science Centre has been disconnected from electricity supply due to non payment of bills

Electricity to the Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science center was cut off because there's an outstanding bill of 1.83 lakh. Due to power cutoff, the Kokrajhar Planetarium and Science centre is currently not functional. Police launched crackdown on NLFB

Police administration have vowed for a strict operation against NLFB in Kokrajhar district as NIA has so far circulated most wanted and head count Rs. 10 lakh against the leader of NLFB M Batha. The superintendent of police, Prateek Thube told that the police has started its search operation against the NLFB militant organization along the India-Bhutan border areas of Kokrajhar district.
