World Population Day observed
Under the aegis of Orang Primary Health Centre and Udalguri Health Committee assisted by BPF district minority cell World Population Day was observed in Aminpara School at Rowta of Udalguri with a day long programme on Tuesday. The programme which was presided by headmaster Azizul Haque was attended as chief guest by Majbat legilator Charan Boro .The programme was anchored by Orang PHC BPM Pankaj Sabhapandit while Dr. Bipin Rabha retired joint director of health ,Udalguri threw light on aspects of family planning . He spoke on length on permanent and temporary contraceptive methods.
While Dr. Shyam Prasad Rajmedhi Sub-divisional Medical and Health officer cleared rumours prevailing specially on minority dominated areas regarding vaccines of infertility.
Mazbat Legislator Charan Boro highlighted on the dangers of population explosion and thanked Jakir Hussain Chowdhury Secretary of BPF's minority cell for organising such event in a minority dominated area like Rowta.The ASHA workers of Orang PHC also enacted a street play on the ocassion
on the theme of population explosion. Devotional songs viz. Jikir and Jari were also sung on the ocassion.Jakir Hussain Chowdhury highlighted the demirits of child marriage on the ocassion.The programme was also attended by many senior cutizens,noted persons of the district.

The silver jubilee celebration of All Bathou Mahasabha, Udalguri district committee concluded here at Harisinga Mantikiri Sanaishree ground with a message to develop spirituality in the society. The four day-long celebration was begun with the opening of Bathou alter by Deven Boro on February 6. The SSB jawans of 61 battalion nabbed six persons with 340 kg ganja (cannabis) and 251 bottles of liquor from the Arunachal- Assam border jungle area on Sunday. They have also seized a Wagon R car (AS-27, 6492) when they found the 251 bottles of liquor being taken illegally. Ransai Daimari (19) and Topeswar Kisan (35) of Pathakpur, Majbat were nabbed from the forest areas of Dhansiri Tea Estate with 230 kg ganja. The 3rd Prize Money Open Badminton Championship (Mens Doubles) was organised on Feb 5 & Feb 6 by Tangla Badminton Association at the Association's playground behind the BSNL office premises.There were participants from Rangia, Rowta, Guwahati Dhemaji, Alipurduar (West Bengal). The Udalguri district committee of All Bathou Mahasabha is going to celebrate its four-day silver jubilee programme at Sonaisri Fwthar at Harisinga in Udalguri district from February 6 with ‘reform, confirm and prosper’ as its main theme. The four-day programme will include community prayers, seminars, cultural programe, open session, literary discourse, release of souvenir and other related books etc., where devotees from various places of the State, including Dimapur will attend as delegates and invited guests respectively.
