Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated at Tangla

Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with pomp and gaiety in Tangla and its surrounding areas including Panery,Dimakuchi,Garuajhar,Ghagra .Men and children drapped in their ethnic best thronged Eidgahs for special prayers to mark culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan on Monday.

A considerable congregation of Muslims  participated in the special prayers held in the Bara Masjid Idgah Maidan in Tangla which was led by Maulana Mohammed Samaun Ahmed Noori.

While Maulana Rezakul Islam, led the prayers held in Banseria Eidgah Maidan of Tangla . Special Sermons were delivered  on the uniqueness of Ramzan fasting and exhorted the Muslims to work for communal amity. Childrens were also seen gripped in festive mood and dressed in colorful attires visiting households.

The highlight of Ramzan Eid is the special poor rate (Fitra) being given to the poor. This charity is given on the day of Eid to enable even the underprivileged to participate in the celebrations. Muslims before attending prayers distributed the poor rate.

In a unique symbol of communal harmony members of other communities also offered greetings to their Muslim friends outside eidgahs.

UDALGURI: The Udalguri police led by DSP(Hq), Moidul Islam and assisted by Udalguri O.C, Narayan Patangia apprehended one Basanta Rabha from Sastrapara area under Harisinga P.S in Udalguri on Friday.The accused is allegedly involved in a broad daylight robbery of seven lakhs from two oil depot workers near Ambagaon of Harisinga on July 24 last.According to the workers they were accosted by a group of two men who snatched the bag containing the money.Though the workers chased the robbers they fled the scene. Man trampled to death by wild jumbos

UDALGURI: The Indo-Bhutan border villages in Udalguri district-region fraught with human-animal conflict and bloodshed and continue to witness brutality of wild jumbos.  In yet another incident, one Mardia Munda (25), a tea garden labour , was trampled to death by wild jumbos at Nalanadi under Dimakuchi PS in Udalguri district on Wednesday.Reportedly, the labour was on his way back home after plucking green leaves when he was confronted by wild jumbo trampling him to death. The local villagers witnessed his soul-less body at about 3 pm when the police and forest officials reached the spot. His body has been retrieved and sent for post-mortem.

Bandh disrupts normal life in Udalguri
