The death toll in the massive waterlogging in Guwahati has gone up to three when an SDRF team deployed in rescue operation fished out the body of a youth on Wednesday morning who had been remaining untraced since Tuesday afternoon.
Identified as Pintu Das from Dibrugarh, the body was recovered during a search operation at Junali area where he was washed away by the river Bharalu. The body is being sent for post mortem before being rushed to the home district.
Two persons were electrocuted in the same Zoo Road area on Tuesday. Initially, a school boy was electrocuted as he was wading through the rainwaters and an eyewitness rushed to his rescue who also met the same mishap.
Kamrup (metro) district administration has set up five relief camps in five worst hit areas to mitigate the misery of the hapless people even as there is marginal let up in the situation.
