Meritorious HSLC students feted
In a bid to encourage the ignited spirits of Tangla Jana Jagaran Society organised a felicitation programme for the meritious students who passed out HSLC at the Bor Tangla ME school on the outskirts of the town on Saturday.
The felicitation programme was graced as chief guest by Nilamoni Bora retired Principal of Tangla HS .The programme which was presided over by Santeswar Rabha President of the society was sponsored by P& D Enterprise co-ordinated by noted comedian and actor Bipul Rabha and Khoirabari Revenue Circle Officer Lakhya Jyoti Das.
The maiden speech on the programme was delivered by Ashim Roy. Speaking on the ocassion Nabin Ch. Bezbaruah said that the district is lacking behind in education sphere,not many students of the region make into competitive examinations.He urged the students to set definite goals and struggle to achieve them. He hailed Jana Jagaran Society and Dipen Das(Toppa) the propietor of P & D Enterprise for organising such an event.
Nilamoni Bora attending the programme as chief guest said ," Our society has been engulfed by anti-social elements.It is quite absurd to read incidents of Murder,rape ,molestation which grabs headlines in daily newspapers.
"All round develipment is the sole purpose of education. Today's youth has been gripped by three things Mobile ,Motor-bike and alcohol which has pushed them to edge of dangerous things.
Questioning the state govt. on its stance on dry state status to Assam he said," Chief Minister Sonowal boasts that it is Sankar-Madhavs' land ajd we should inspired by their teachings. But did they teach to drink alcohol. Why can't Assam be a dry state he questioned? Assam blessed with numerous revebue generating resources feom tea, oil is not depended on alcohol and wine shops and alcohol distillaries for revenue.He further said that the Politicians should not resort to such politics which which destroys the youth as there have been open sale of drugs and alcohol. Noted comedian and actor Bipul Rabha also spoke on the ocassion and entertained them.
In the felicitation programme as many as 130 students who passed out HSLC 2017 were feted with a mementos, phulam gamocha . The students also expressed their gratitude to the members of the society for feting them.

In a kidnapping case where two youth Amin Ali(25) and Shankar Das (28) went missing after both of them left for Goreswar from Tangla railway station on Sunday last. Sensation prevails in the area following the killing of one Jairam Thikda by his fellow friend Agartosh Kerkata at Nalapara under Dimakuchi PS of Udalguri on the night of Satrurday last. Reportedly both the persons were consuming alcohol together, when a scuffle broke out between the two over some petty issues Agartosh Kerkata gave a fatal blow to Jairam Thikda which resulted in the death of the later. A wild loner jumbo created havoc and ransacked number of houses in Barmukoli village under Panery PS of Udalguri on Sunday morning. The wild jumbo also lashed one Benzamin Tirkey (45) of the same village resulting in death of the person. Police have sent his body for post-mortem to Udalguri Civil Hospital. Lately, a herd of wild jumbos have strayed in search of food and created havoc in the district. The wild jumbo also ransacked houses of Ratiram Boro, Ganesh Boro, Benarus Kasuwa. The local villagers have alleged that though the forest officials have been informed they didn't take stock of the situation. Man-Elephant conflict in Udalguri district has taken worst turn in recent times. A loner jumbo created havoc in Nalapara area of Udalguri district bordering Indo-Bhutan on Saturday morning. The loner jumbo ransacked many houses on Friday night besides ransacking three rooms of Nalapara L.P school on saturday morning. In a significant judgment to rising cases of human trafficking cases and demonstrating how seriously police and the courts will deal with people traffickers in state the Udalguri district court of Assistant Session Judge Roushan Lal sentenced two persons found guilty for their attempt of human trafficking to a term of three years and six months in jail. The Udalguri district unit of AKRSU have condemns the incident of vandalization of partly constructed Chilarai Bhawan near Tangla College by miscreants. The student body have also urged the administration to arrest the culprits involved. This was stated by a press release issued by the student body. Rintu Boro (23) of Purani Tangla Sanbari village has been missing since April 10. As per reports he went to Tangla weekly market on the day and has not returned home since then. Hagrama Mahillary's utopian dream of Model BTC is still a distant dream in Tangla. The residents of the four wards of Tangla town have been deprived of safe drinking water for the past four years. The town which has two water plants at Chitranagar and Jalukbari under the TTC has been lying inactive since 30 November 2012. The residents have been facing harrowing time. Hand pumps and river water are the only sources left for the people. There is a pending electricity bill of Rs.40 lakhs payable to ASEB by Tangla Town Committee. The town committee is functioning under BTC administration for the past 12 years.
