Huge storm lashes Udalguri

Properties worth lakhs of rupees have been ravaged when a huge storm unleashed a reign of terror in Udalguri district disrupting surface communication in many places on Saturday morning.

Accompanied by heavy downpour, the storm hit Tangla, Bhergaon, Dimakuchi, Totlapara, Dharamjuli, Nashanshali, Borengajuli  in the morning which continued for around half an hour.

Many houses collapsed and many trees, electric and telephone posts were uprooted to block the vital roads. No casulaty is reported. But it would take time to restore the surface communication network.

A woman was attacked by sharp blade by a group of unidentified miscreants at midnight of 13 June, the woman has been identified as Rashmita Tanti (50) wife of Kandhara Tanti an inhabitant of Budlapara Chowk under Dimakuchi PS of Udalguri district. A large python approximately 5ft weighing 5 kg was recovered at 2 No. Borengajuli (Orangbasti) village of Rajagarh near the Indo-Bhutan border on Monday morning.
