Assam is all set to receive Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh which is on a two day visit his second home state on Monday.
Security: The Prime Minister is landing at the Roroiya airport at Jorhat from Delhi in the morning. But in the same breath, the securitymen also went for a mock drill of the PM’s convoy from the airport to Jalukbari on Sunday. Top ranked police officials rushed to the airport to review the security scenario of the airport. The chief minister too paid a visit to the airport in the morning and took stock of the security system put in place.
Jorhat visit: After landing in Jorhat, the Prime Minister is set to lay the foundation stone of yet another medical college in the state. The entire function is being organised at the Kachari Maidan. Dr Singh is scheduled to interact with the Satradhikars of Majuli. He is scheduled to make an aerial survey of Majuli after wrapping up his Jorhat visit. Meanwhile, the district administration has beefed up security arrangement throughout the town and six metal detectors have been set up on six entry and exit points of the main pandal.
Nagaon public rally: The prime Minister is holding a public rally at Nehrubali in Nagaon town after his Jorhat visit. Brisk preparations are afoot to receive the Prime Minister who is scheduled to land in the town around 2 in the afternoon. Roads are being dressed afresh although it has yet to be completed. Security forces are guarding the huge pandal. Checking on the streets is being intensified to ensure peace and normalcy during the rally.
Three ministers of the Tarun Gogoi government hailing from Nagaon and Morigaon districts namely Dr Nazrul Islam, Gautom Bora and Rockybul Hussain are working overnight to make the rally a success. The district Congress committee hopes that the rally will be a successful one.
Guwahati: Dr Singh is schedule to hold a meeting with the ministers at the Raj Bhawan in the evening.
