E-district project launched in Bhergaon

To facilitate ‘timely, state-of-the-art, hassle-free, transparent and comfortable services’ to the people of Bhergaon sub-division the district administration inaugurated the e-District project in Bhergaon sub-division on Thursday.

Dithakananda Hazarika ADC of Udalguri district inaugurating the E district project said that people of the sub-division can now avail government services conveniantly through Internet, Common Service Centres (CSCs) and Public Facilitation Centres(PFCs) at DC, SDO and Circle Offices.

Rituttam Bora EAC Bhergaon was also present on the occasion. Bora divulged that four E -district project has been launched in Udalguri district. Deva Pratim Bhuya, District Manager E- district project, Phulsingh Basumatary District Project Manager and Alaisri Basumatary from Common Service Centre along with all the staff of sub divisional office were present in the programme.

The project aims at seamless service delivery of government services to the citizen by enhancing the efficiency. It is envisaged  that the electronic delivery of citizen centric services will ensure efficiency, transparency and reliability at affordable costs to the citizens.

Girls rescued at Tangla railway station

Two girl childs were rescued by Tangla GRP from Murkongselek-Rangia Dn Passenger express at 4.30 pm at Tangla Railway station today. There were accompanied by three youths namely Maram Ali, Saidul Ali and Nuruddin Ali. The youths who are in their early 20's are an inhabitant of Khandigar near Rangia of Kamrup. The girls have been identified as Pinky Ghosh (18) and Manju Majhi (17) a resident of Karibil Bongali village under Helem PS of Biswanath Charali. GRP have contacted the family members of the victims.

Summer journalism workshop held

A day-long summer journalism workshop concluded at Harisinga HS school premises, Tangla  recently. The programme was organized jointly by Assam Press Correspondents' Union (APCU) and Bodoland Journalists' Association (BJA) Udalguri district committee .The programme was inaugurated by journalist  Dipen Deka which was graced as resource person by senior journalist Anjan Goswami,Naren Hazarika editor of Assamese daily 'Dainadin Barta' . Adivasi Martyrs' Day observed

“If there is any community in the State which is exploited and deprived economically and socio-politically, it is none other than the Adivasi community.” This was observed by Rihon Daimari, State Food and Civil Supply and PHE Minister at Orangajuli market complex ground in Udalguri on Tuesday. Daimari attended the open session as chief guest marking the killings of eight protesters who died of bullet wounds during a 12-hour strike to demand ST status for Adivasis, way back in July 25, 2003. Daimari said that the sacrifice of those eight protesters would be an inspiration for generations to come. Their sacrifice will not go in vain. Obituary: Rameshwar Lalji Mewara

Rameshwar Lalji Mewara a noted buisinessman and philantrophist of Tangla left for his heavenly abode at his own residence due to old age ailments .He was 90. He was actively associated with various social and religious institutions like Tangla Vishnu Mandir, Tangla Chamber of Commerce.He leaves behind his four sons ,two daughters and a host of relatives and well wishers.His death was widely mourned by Jayanta Bhattacharya Assistant General Secretary AASU,Udalguri district committee AASU have also expressed deep condolences at his demise. Tangla Press Club members have also offered heartfelt condolence to the family members of the bereaved.

Art workshop held

A three day long summer arts and craft workshop,  conducted by Lotus Fine Art Society of Tangla concluded here at Adarsha Vidyapith school premises on Sunday. The workshop attended by nearly 80 participants of all age group was graced as resource person by eminent artist of state Dadul Chaliha along with Bhanu Paul of Dhubri. Sahil Haque a student of Arunodoi Academy said, "I am very happy to participate in the workshop. I learned the terracotta clay making art and at the same time learn to make creative things with waste materials." Laboratory services now available at Rowta Model Hospital

A ceremonious programme was organized here at Rowta Model Hospital to launch few basic laboratory sevices on Saturday. The programme  was inaugurated by Charan Boro MLA,Mazbat LAC whileA. K. Zubeen fans collecting flood aid

The Zubeen Fan Club members of Udalguri inspired by singer Zubeen Garg went on a collection drive on the streets of Tangla town for the flood affected people on Tuesday. Nearly 25 members led by its President Gunjit Mahanta and Secretary Kaushik Das visited weekly market,banks and commercial establishments . "Though Udalguri district is unaffected by flood,yet we can feel the suffering of the flood affected people", said Chiranjib Kashyap. Assam archer to compete at Berlin 2017 Hyundai Archery World Cup

Pramila Daimari has been selected to represent India in Womens Archery team for Berlin 2017 Hyundai Archery World Cup Stage 4 to be held in Berlin of Germany from August 8 - 13 2017 next. Udalguri District Archery Association has extemded their greetings to the archerer.It is to be mentioned that she is from Dahlahabi village of Khagrabari near Bhergaon of Udalguri.She is the second daughter of Obiram Daimari and Renubala Daimari. Rampant sand mining in Paschim Nalbari

Unwarranted sand mining is adding to the plight of the Nonai River in Udalguri district. The 28 families living in Paschim Nalbari village under Mouza Dakua of Harisinga Revenue Circle office have been spending sleepless nights due to detrimental government policies. The villagers complained that due to rampant sand mining in Nonoi, the river was changing its course and moving towards the inhabited areas. “The river bed has turned unstable, thus disturbing the biodiversity of the region,” said Khagen Boro, whose two bigha land, including his house, has been eroded by the river.
