District administration organises peace meeting

 Kokrajhar district administration organized an all party peace meeting on Wednesday involving students unions representing different communities, political parties, social organizations to create awareness among people so as to maintain peace and communal harmony in the district following the Silapathar violence.

Bibekananda Choudhury,DC,Kokrajhar chaired the meeting held at the DC conference hall and attended by members of various students organisations, political parties and leading citizens apart from civil and police officials.The meeting addressed about ensuring peace and tranquility in the district among all sections of communities in the district following Silapathar situation where an a Bengali organisation ransacked the office of the All Assam Students' Union on Monday last. Citizens from all sections of society appeals for maintaining peace and unity in the district.

Choudhury,DC called upon all to maintain peace and harmony. Kokrajhar SP Rajen Singh also appeal the citizens for peace and harmony and help the police and district administration in maintaining peace in the district.

Sharp Rise in Malaria Cases in Kokrajhar: Two Deaths Reported

Kokrajhar district is grappling with a significant malaria outbreak, with 1,991 cases reported up to November 20, 2024, marking a stark rise from 256 cases recorded in 2023.
