Community wedding in Kokrajhar
Community wedding ceremony brings happy married life among Adivashi community, which witnesses of irrespective of communities at Paharpur Mwnzgithan(Mandir) near Nayekgaon in Kokrajhar district today.
At-least 30 pairs, economically poor people’s from Adivashi community tie the knot from Nayekgaon,Salakati,Harinaguri, Shiljan,Dholmara area of Kokrajhar district at Paharpur Mwnzgithan(Mandir) witnessing huge gathering of citizens on Thursday in Adivashi rituals. The priests performed the wedding ceremony as groom and bridegrooms were dressed new clothes to get married on their life.
The community wedding was organised by Doneswar Goyary,BTC executive member to give a community service among economically backward peoples in the region. It is a first ever community wedding function being organized in Kokrajhar, which has created an amusement among all sections of communities.
Newly married couples expresses their happy over getting publicly wedding said that it is a happy moment for their life as peoples come forward to serve peoples’ welfare.
‘I am very happy today being getting new life through community wedding at Paharpur Mwnzhithan. I am tie the knot with my life partner as per social tradition’, said Mangal Kisku, newly married person.
Budhin Murmu, a bridegroom from Paharpur village said that she come from a poor family, today got an opportunity for mass marry in her life.
Goyary said that he and his colleagues organized the mass wedding function for poor families, who are hand to mouth in their life.
‘Today peoples from greater Nayekgaon area are seeing happy with mass marry as they got tie the knot publicly’, Goyary added.
Peoples from all sections of communities, especially Adivasi peoples have lauded the initiatives for publicly wedding ceremony that brought an integration and unity in the region.
Matla Hembrom, social activist appreciated organizers for holding such social initiative for poor peoples in the region which give new aspiration. Rajendra Boro, social activist also hailing the mass marry function said that it is an example of social unity that brought peace and integration among society.
Two couples were stopped form getting married due to under age.

KOKRAJHAR: A Ganja smuggler was shot at by police in the Bishmuri area of Kokrajhar district late Wednesday night. The incident happened in Kokrajhar in Bishmuri. The victim was rushed to the RNB civil hospital in Kokrajhar. Mukesh Kumar of Bihar was identified as the victim.

KOKRAJHAR: The police nabbed three people with 91 Kgs of Ganja on Karigaon national highway in Kokrajhar on Wednesday..
The arrested persons were identified as Hasanur Rahman, Mithun Miya of Mankachar and Mukesh Kumar of Bihar.
The smuggled Ganja was bound for Bihar from Agartala in a Scorpio vehicle, bearing registration no.BR 11V-7551.
BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary was granted bail on Saturday and released against case CR 34/2020, accused of section 120-B/500 IPC from CJM court in Kokrajhar.
Pramod Boro, the president of the United People’s Party of Luwahati, filed a complaint against Mohilary, the former chief of Bodoland Territorial Council, at the court of CJM Kokrajhar for making derogatory remarks about him in February 2020.

KOKRAJHAR: Two people were killed on the spot in a late-night road accident in Balajan Pakriguri under Kokrajhar police station.
According to police, two people were travelling on a bike and met with mishaps that claimed two people on the spot at a roadside parking dumper in Pakriguri along JD Road late at night around 2.15 am on Tuesday night under Kokrajhar police station.
The deceased were identified as Geremsha Swargiary (25) of Dumuruguri in Baksa district and Lwitwma Basumatary (26) of Narabari Kokrajhar.

Kokrajhar: The first ever edition of the All Assam Prize Money Non-Ranking Badminton Championship-2021 concluded on Tuesday after a two-day programme was scheduled to be held at the indoor stadium of the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) in Kokrajhar district.
