The new central committee of the All Bodo Students Union (ABSU) took swearing in ceremony today at a programme held at DRDA guest house in Kaziranga in Golaghat district.
The new body of the students union was formed with Pramod Boro,president and Lawrence Islary,general secretary along with other executive members of the ABSU at the 49th annual conference and golden jubilee celebration held at Janghkhrithai Pwthar recently in Kokrajhar.
Khungkra Swargiary, adviser of the students union,chaired the function and administered oath in ceremony, which was inaugurated by Naren Chandra Basumatary, SDO (Civil) Dhansiri and ADC Golaghat,Raju Phukan, organizing secretary AASU graced as special guest where representatives from the district committees of the ABSU were present.
The students union has vowed to work on for work dedicatedly for effective social change and development in the state among down trodden communities. The student union decided to continue vigorous democratic mass movement for immediate solution of Bodoland issue to meet good administration,observation of mass revolution on 2nd March as Bodoland Demand Day and intensifying the movement for solution of Assam state related several issues,which included education, textbook, forest right, land right Etc.
The Denkhwmu Se-Nwi-Tham,cultural competition organized by ABSU will be organized in the memory of great revolutionary singer Dwikhrong Khungur Basumatary by name ‘Dwikhrong Khungur Memorial Denkhwmu Se-Nwi-Tham’.
The course of Bodoland movement, in the 2nd March 2017 marked as the Bodoland Demand Day since 1987,when the then President Upendra Nath Brahma launched the mass democratic movement demanding separate state of Bodoland in the northern bank of Brahmaputra from Sonkosh to Sadiya,demanding the political rights and security for the Bodos living outside the proposed Bodoland in Assam. The entire village level anchalik committee ABSU will organize the mass gathering demanding statehood and submit memorandum reminding the government of India of the issue on March 2 next, which will be jointly organised by ABSU, NDFB(P) and PJACBM across the state, said ABSU release.
