Gohour breaks into a sea of humanity when people thronged in thousands to catch a glimpse of the Shankar Sangha Annual session in this historic spot in between Lakhimpur and Sonitpur district.
The entire area turns into a mini Assam when the state’s second largest non political organization took out a cultural procession showcasing the rich age old cultural heritage of all ethnic and tribal groups in the morning.
People from far flung areas have reached the venue on Friday a Day before the session began with much fanfare and cultural extravaganza.
Organizers told Assam Times that at least 3 lakh people have covering the delegations from the district and sub divisional bodies have thronged the venue named after Ramananda Ata, one of the main disciples of the saint Shankardev.
Book fair, exhibition, seminars, prayer, staging of bhaona have pulled huge crowd this time, said the organizers. A number of personalities have attended the session with illuminating research papers on saints Shankardev and Madhabdev. The session will formally conclude on Tuesday.
