Senior Congress leader and former chief minister Tarun Gogoi thrashed the Centre alleging lack of proper care for Assam in the Union Budget.
Participating in the debate over the governor’s speech on the floor of the assembly, Gogoi alleged that nothing concrete is there in the union budget.
According to the former chief minister, the budget has brought no fund to mitigate the misery of flood and errosion.
He further observed that the insurgent activities in the state are on the rise. According to him, the Centre has not been doing enough to address the issue with sincerity. “The backward area fund has been stopped. No central support to modernize the police force and how you would deal with insurgents,” said the three time chief minister.
