Brisk prep for ABSU golden event

Only a few days are left. Spotlights seems to have fallen on Jangkhritai Pwthar in Kokrajhar. The historic spot dresses afresh ahead of the ABSU golden jubilee celebration from February 12.

Defying a biting coldwave hundreds of ABSU activists have been working round the clock to host the grand event to mark the completion of 50 eventful years.

Apart the state’s prominent people, veterans from the neighbouring states have confirmed their participation on the four day long event.

Lawrence Islary,general secretary of ABSU told Assam Timed the ABSU was founded on February 15 in 1967 and this year completes 50-years glorious steps in its organisational sustainbility. The celebration will be marking 50 years glorious steps and which will be starting on February 12 and concluding on February 15 with an open session.

‘There are several constructions for the celebrations have been in full swing with strong dedications. There are about 1500 volunteers are to be deployed to make disciplinary performing during the celebration. Nearly 5000 delegate and 5000 observers are taking part in the celebrtaion from all districts of Assam as well different city of the country and West Bengal state unit of ABSU’,Islary said.

There would be seminar on different topics and students’ conclave session has also been scheduling where resource persons from different universities of the country are participating.There would be a book fair and exhibition in the celebration where nearly 100 stalls are participating the celebration. Cultural troupes from different communities,including a team neighboring Bhutan are participating the conference with huge cultural members,he said.

Noted social activist and UN Brahma Soldier of Humanity award winner Aruna Roy will grace as chief guest on the concluding day of the celebration on February 15 next.

‘All kinds of preparations are in full swing to hold the celebrations.Peoples from all sections of society are giving services with dedication in the pwthar since beginning of January month’,Islary said.He said that the students union organising the conference with various colourful programmes where peoples from across the state as well nation are taking part. He has urged the all sections of communities to cooperate in the celebration to make a grand success with glorious steps.

Dr RN Sinha,vice chairman of Reception Committee said that this is a celebration of the students union and society of peoples where peoples from all walks of life participating.He said that the celebration will be marking a huge participation from different regions of the state as well country.He also that all kinds of preparations would be completed by February 7-8 next because all are touching with good performing by different sub-committees.

Peoples from different areas who are dedicating their services said that they are rendering social dedication as students union is organising a grand celebration.
