Illegal sawmill seized

An illegal sawmill was seized along with huge timbers at Khalugaon village this afternoon during a joint search operation in Kokrajhar district on Wednesday. The seized timbers would be amounting of over eight lakhs.

Based on input about illegal sawmill along the Khalugaon village,a joint team of forest,police and anti corruption & crime investigation front raided the area today afternoon and found the illegal set up sawmill and huge amounts of log and timbers inside a bamboo park at Khalugaon village under Gaurang Forest Range in Kokrajhar district.

The sawmill and timbers were seized.Forest department had seized huge smuggling Sal logs two-days ago at Rwnnwgwr under Jharbari forest range in Kokrajhar.

Forest official in the operation told that the illegal sawmill along with timbers have been seized and brought to forest office in Kokrajhar.

The seized logs would be over eight lakhs in its market value.Getting information about illegal sawmill that has been running in the village, a joint team raided the area and found all timbers,said a senior police officer.

A member of anti-corruption & crime investigtaion said that they jointly seized the sawmill along with timbers.

Footballer Apurna Narzary to receive Emerging Player award in Bodoland Territorial Region

Apurna Narzary, an international women's football player, has been nominated for the Emerging Player award for 2022-23 by the Sports & Youth Welfare department of the government of Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR). Three individuals, including former MLA and senior BPF (Bodoland People's Front) leader Hitesh Basumatary, were arrested by police in Baksa district after a search operation at Basumatary's residential complex resulted in the recovery of a large cache of illegal arms and ammunition.
