R Day celebrated in Udalguri district with gaiety

The 68th Republic Day has been celebrated in Udalguri district with gaiety.At district HQ Udalguri,BTC Deputy Chief Khampa Borgayari hoisted the tricolour in presence of more than ten thousand people including woman and children. Speaking on the occasion BTC Dy Chief gratefully remembered the contribution of Kanak Lata Barua and others who had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country.He also offered his gratitude to Bharat Ratna Gopinath Bordoloi,for which effort tribal people of NE could avail the status under 6th schedule of the constitution of India.He declared that hundred numbers of students from BTC would be given financial aids of rupees two lakhs each for undergoing IIT,IIM and medical degrees besides aids of rupees one lakh each to 63 students qualified for NITs.BTC Dy Chief also declared that an amount of rupee one lakh would also be given to any students of BTC doing his or her PhD.He also requested government of India to solve long pending demand of six ethnic groups of Assam for inclusion in ST category.He along with Sadhana Hojai,Deputy Commissioner and Rajveer Singh, Superintendent of Udalguri received salutes from twenty numbers of march past contigents including police,school students and various departments commanded by Diptimali Gogoi.Harakanta Hazarika,Asstt. Director, Sericulture, Udalguri received best award under Swatch Bharat Mission,as the cleanest office campus in Udalguri district.On the occasion BTC Deputy Chief Khampa Borgayari and DC Sadhana Hojai felicitated wildlife activists Jayanta Das and Ismail Daimari for their contribution in the field of conservarion of nature and wildlife.

The 68th Republic Day was celebrated at Kalaigaon with gaiety.Karpun Patir, District Election Officer,Udalguri hoisted the national flag at Gandhi Bakori field, in presence of nearly a thousand people.The officer paid floral tribute to thousands who had sacrificed their lives for Mother India.He specially mentioned great contributions of freedom fighters of Kalaigaon in India's freedom struggle nemely- Pani Ram Das,Bongshidhar Sarma, Kamaleswar Sarma,Dinanath Sarma and Mahat Deka.Four distinguished people namely-Bakul Sarkar,Nabin Saharia, Naba Barua and Utpal Sarma were felicitated for their social contribution in respective fields.Kalaigaon HS School won the first prize in the march past event followed by Kalaigaon Girls HS.Cultural events were also arranged on the occasion by students of various schools.A friendly cricket match was also organised in the afternoon at Freedom Fighter Late Pani Ram Das play ground on the occasion.

At Tangla, Lakhyajyoti Das, Circle Officer, Khoirabari hoisted the national flag at Tangla HS School play ground in the presence of nearly three thousand people.Speaking on the occasion Circle Officer Das requested people to maintain peace in the society and to remember those who had sacrificed their lives for the freedom of our country.Twenty contingents of NCC,Scouts and Guides and various local schools took part in march paste event.Tangla English Medium HS (TEMHS),Jatiya Bidyalaya,Tangla and Tangla Adarsha Bidyapith school won first three places respectively.

At sub-divisional HQ Bhergaon Saptati Endow,SDO (Civil) I/C, Bhergaon hoisted the national flag in the presence of nearly four thousand people.Nine contingents of police and schools took part in march paste event.Speaking on the occasion SDO(C) Bhergaon offered her tribute to the known and unknown martyrs who had laid down their lives for the freedom of Mother India.Four numbers of people namely-Nomal Rabha,national level Kabadi referee,Sarbeswar Rabha (VDP),Arjun Limbu (VDP) Raben Boro,(best farmer) were felicitated on the occasion of 68th Republic Day for their contribution in respective fields in Bhergaon Sub-division.Three BTC EM,namely-Lwmsraow Daimari,Jagadish Sarkar and Bonjar Daimari;Deputy Speaker,BTC,Nerson Boro;SDPO, Bhergaon Pranjal Bora attended Republic Day programme. Spectacular Boro,Rabha,Adivasi cultural events were also performed by boys and girls to much delight of the people present.

The students of Bhelakhuti LP school near Hattigarh in Udalguri district disappointed much finding no teachers in school on the day of India's 68th Republic Day recently as not a single teacher turned up in the school for hoisting the National Flag in the morning. All the students had to return home without hoisting the flag in the school campus. They also missed other activities of the Republic Day celebration on the day.
