Tricolour hoisted at press club

Media fraternity and patriotic Guwahatians hoisted the national flag at Guwahati Press Club observing 68th Republic Day with all fervour and joy. Senior journalist Raman Bora hoisted the Tricolour and paid tribute to those martyrs who sacrificed their lives for India’s independence.

Earlier journalist Rupam Barua elaborated the significance of 26 January in the context of India’s freedom movement. The participants also joined in a procession after the flag-hoisting program. Others who were present on the occasion included Padmashri Ajay Dutta, journalists Ranen Kumar Goswami, DN Singh, Pranabjit Doloi, Pulin Kalita, Nava Thakuria, Nevaprasad Yadab, Bikas Singh, Mamata Mishra, Jesim Raja writers Jagadindra Raichoudhury, Pramod Kalita, Purabi Gogoi, cultural activist Kishor Giri, patriotic citizens Kailash Sarma, Mrinal Hazarika, Ujjal Saikia, Hyder Bora, Pradip Thakuria, Chandana Doloi, Tarali Chakrabarty, Azlina Khanam, Akhyamala Bora etc.
