The All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) demanded early creation of Satellite Autonomous Council(SAC) to gain socio-economic development of Gorkha community in the state.
The 9th binniel conference of BTC Region All Assam Gorkha Students Union (AAGSU) was concluded today with two day programme scheduled at Bodofa Cultural complex in Kokrajhar today.
Speaking the reporters in the side lines of the BTC AAGSU conference, Prem Tamang,president of AAGSU(central committee) said that the AAGSU has been demanded creation of satellite autonomous council in the state to make community welfare and development of Gorkha community.He said Gorkha community is indigenous people of the state and has been social contributions among society of different communities in the state.
He has urged the government to take stern measure to create satellite autonomous council as other regions of the Assam are enjoying.Tamang said that the Gorkha community has own language and culture through which the community could be identified.But,the community has been deprived from all fronts of development and welfare of the government since long decades in the state.
He has demanded Gorkha community should be granted Original Inhabitant status while updating the NRC in the state of Assam.He has also eyed proper implementation of historic Assam Accord as per spirits of clauses.He said illegal immigrants from Bangladesh should be identified and deported from Assam at any costs.
Dimbeswar Upadhya,president of BTC Region AAGSU said that the Gorkha community in the region are deprived from mother tongue education even though ministry of human resource department has been given right to education across the country.He has demanded introduction of Nepali language in the lower primary,upper primary and high school as MIL subject and subsequently teachers should be appointed and implementtaion of the Assam venture school provincialisation Act for services 2011 in the region.
The binniel conference of BTC Region AAGSU concluded on Sunday with two-day long programme scheduled where several discussion and interaction was held in the conference.The BTC Region AAGSU formed a new executive body with John Chouhan as president and Rahit Dahal as secretary along with 25 members for next two-years.
Rabiram Narzary,Kokrajhar west MLA,BTC executive members Rajib Brahma,Doneswar Goyary,Pusphadhar Sarma,noted educationist,Madhav Karki,former BTC MCLA were prominent attendees in the meeting.
