9 year footballer Chandan Boro leaves for Germany

Chandan Boro, a mere 9-year-old footballer and a student of North Harisinga LP school of Udalguri left for Germany for his residential football training course on Wednesday. Chandan was selected last year in a selection camp held at Kokrajhar by the Tata Trust in the month of June. The training courses will be for a duration of six years. A farewell program for Chandan was organised on Tuesday in Udalguri which was attended by State minister Rihon Daimari,Sadhana Hojai DC of Udalguri and members of ABSU and BSS.

TANGLA:Over loaded dumpers carrying construction materials, of late, have started unleashing a huge havoc on the Mangaldai-Bhutiachang SH-4 these days. A couple of lives has already lost. More such incidents are in store if this havoc us not properly done away with. TANGLA: The teachers and students of Tangla College bad farewell to teacher  Jayanta Kr. Chakravarty  on his retirement on Wednesday. In his farewell address he advised the students to trace out the positive aspects and hone their skills theirby channelizing their mind to pursue subjects where one is passionate.     Prof. Chakravarty, the prolific writer started his literary activities as an essayist,  a translator and then a sucessfull short story writer in Assamese who received Katha Award for Creative Fiction (1997), Eka Ebong Koekjon Sahitya Sangskriti Sanman (2001) among other awards. 
UDALGURI: The Udalguri district committee of All Koch-Rajbongshi Students’ Union (AKRSU) is preparing to enforce a 24 hour long Udalguri district bandh on February 15 alleging failure of BTAD administration to keep its promises. Talking to reporters, Aranya Deka, A Saikia and B. Rajbongshi, alleged that despite full support to the ruling BPF in the last BTC elections, the BTC authority did not fulfill its assurance to construct a students’ hostel for the community at Udalguri and intentionally directed to construct it outside Udalguri town area.The decision was taken at a district unit meeting of AKRSU, where the leaders criticized the present role of the BTC authority in the region.
TANGLA: Don Basumatary and Pankaraj Deuri emerged champion in mens double category in the 5th edition of the Prize Money Open Badminton Tournament which at Tangla Badminton Association Indoor stadium on Sunday night. UDALGURI: The Sikh community of Udalguri and Darrang celebrated the 350th birth anniversary of Sri Guru Gobind Singh with religious fervour at Tangla in Udalguri on Friday. They celebrated the occasion at the Gurudwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha. Sikh devotees, including women and children, from different parts of the district gathered at the Gurudwara since morning and offered their prayers.Devotees read out the scriptures of Sukhmani Sahib and recited kirtan, which spread the messages of love and harmony among the people.
