Christmas festivity grips Assam on Sunday where churches across the state pulled huge crowd of people who participated in the special prayer in search of global peace.
Defying a pinching cold wave the Christian people of all walks of life thronged the church premises' for the special prayer in the morning.
People in large number in the north eastern city of Guwahati rushed to the Panbajar based Baptist church in the morning after the end of the midnight carol to mark the birth of the Jesus.
Similar rush of people was in sight at the Don Bosco premises and the Christianbast Church where the people held special prayer in search of divine help to restore global peace.
Anju Haokip, a Manipuri college girl in Cotton College told Assam Times that the need of the hour is peace. “Only the Jesus can give us peace with His message of love and kindness. Without His kindness peace cannot emerge in this restive planet.”
Same sentiment echoed in what Jhones Shira said who participated in the open prayer at Don Bosco on Sunday. “I prayed to the Jesus to help us restore peace on this planet. I hope He is kind and we would be able to see the light of peace in near future.”
Braving a cold evening on Saturday hundreds of people thronged the church premises' in different places across the state where they participated in the midnight carol which ended in the morning with the participators wishing each others a happy Christmas.
