Two more army jawan died in ULFA-I’s attack on the Kumaon regiment in Tinsukia district on Saturday morning. The two jawans succumbed to injuries at the hospital where they were battling for life. Earlier in the morning an army officer died and three other sustained serious injury when ULFA-I launched a dreaded attack on the convoy comprising gipsy and a truck.
The insurgent outfit launched the attack by lobbing a powerful IED at a gipsy and a truck where the Kumano regiment jawan reached Pengeri on the way to Digboi.
Top ranked police and para military arrived in the spot to be followed by a huge combing operation at a nearby dense jungle where the ULFA-I militants are believed to have been hiding.
