Silver jubilee celebration of Kendukalai Sahitya Samaj at Kalaigaon

The silver jubilee of Kendukalai Sahitya Samaj of Kalaigaon has been commencing at Kalaigaon with the hoisting of 27 number of Sabha flags on November 18 at 9 am.Twenty five distinguished people of Kalaigaon hoisted all the flags celebrationg completion of glorious twenty years of the branch of Asom Xahitya Xobha.Prominent among them were- Abul Hussain,president and Mahendra Saikia, founder president of the Kendukalai Sahitya Samaj, Kalaigaon; Jagadish Sarkar,EM,BTC;Maheswar Boro,MLA, Kalaigaon; Nabin Chandra Boro,Inspector of Schools, Udalguri etc. Earlier senior journalist Mukut Raj Sarma, secretary of the celebration committee welcomed all the guests with gamocha and spoke about the glorious past of Kendukalai Sahitya Samaj. Bonjar Daimari,EM,BTC inaugurated the Kalaguru Cultural Stage at Gandhi Bakori field at 10.30 am. Later Jagadish Sarkar,EM,BTC laid the foundation stone of the Sahitya Sabha Bhawan at Kalaigaon at 11 am in presence of members of Sahitya Sabha. Several events for children and youths were arranged on the occasion including “Kuhi”,drawing competition for school children,”Ramdhenu”,a cultural competition for boys and girls.Local women and girls of Kalaigaon area organised an interesting cultural event “Akash” at 12 am to much delight of the people present.

Nature loving people of Darrang and Udalguri districts have rejoiced at the safe return of the seven years old rhino,which had strayed away from Orang National Park on December 12. After traveling a distance of nearly 80 km, finally it returned safe to Orang National Park in the cover of darkness on December 13. Nature lovers have expressed serious concern at the electrocution of another female wild elephant ,who had been carrying a near matured calf at Bhutiachang TE on the night of November 4/09.According to information received a 14 years old female wild elephant was electrocuted at section No. 6 of Bhutiachang TE.It has been learned that a herd of wild elephants numbering 25-30 had been seen roaming in the locality for a few days.
