The National Service Scheme (NSS), Dimoria College, Khetri organized a Training of Trainers (ToT) in Life Skills from October 31 to November 4. The programme was supported by the Rajiv GandhiNational Institute of Youth Development (RGNIYD) under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Govt. of India. The Programme dealt with the ten core life skills identified by WHO and UNICEF. Sri Sunil Basumatry, Director, NSS, North East Region inaugurated the programme on 31st October . Eminent Life Skills Trainer Ranjan K Baruah, Navmita Bhattacharjee, Prerna Agarwal, and Neeru Basumatary were the resource persons. The resource persons acquainted the 47 participants with the life skills. The participants felt that the training had a deep impact on their lives. The life skills dealt with were Self Awareness, Empathy, Critical Thinking, Creative Thinking, Problem Solving, Decision Making, Communication Skills, Interpersonal Relationships, Coping with Stress, and Coping with Emotions. The programme came to an end with the Valedictory Function on November 4th. The Chief Guest of the function was Sri Sunil Basumatry, Director, NSS, North East Region. In his valedictory address, Sri Basumatary lauded the activities of the Dimoria College Unit of the NSS in field of Youth Training. He also acquainted the participants with the activities and courses offered by RGNIYD for the youth. The Valedictory Function was attended by the Principal in-Charge, Dr. Hem Chandra Deka, Sri Rajib Dutta, Associate Professor, and Ranjan K Baruah, the resource person for the day. The ToT was coordinated by Sri Anup Dutta Baruah, Programme Officer, NSS.

Security forces have rescued two abducted ONGC officials from Nagaland last night. Sources revealed that the officials were rescued in a joint operation carried out by the Indian Army and Assam Rifles in a populas area of the Mon district. The outlawed ULFA(I) has kidnapped three ONGC officials from the Lakuwa rig. Among the three two were rescued, security forces claimed. The rescued officials are identified as Alakesh Saikia and Moni Mohan Gogoi. Security Forces also recovered an AK 47 rifle during the operation. They keep the operation to rescue the other abducted.

Amidst the Coronavirus scare, a group of armed people has, reportedly, abducted three ONGC officials from its oil rig in Lakuwa, Sivasagar last night. As per reports, the abducted have been identified as Ritul Saikia, Titabor, Mohini Mohan Gogoi, Sivasagar and Alakesh Saikia of Jorhat. After receiving the information, the police have launched investigation.
Mentionable is that the ULFA(I) abducted two officials of an oil company a few months earlier and released them just a few days ago.
Former Chief Minister of Assam and senior Congress leader Dr. Bhumidhar Barman is no more. He was 91. The octogenarian political leader passed away today evening after a brief illness. He was also former health minister during the chief ministership of late Hiteswar Saikia from 1991 to 1996. After the demise of Saikia, Dr. Barman was elavated as the chief minister of the state for a brief while.
The Centre is likely to restore the employees' Dearness Allowances(DA) effective from July, this year. The government had decided to not dole out the Allowances after the onslaught of the new coronavirus and the subsequent prolonged lock-down imposed to contain the meance in the country However, as its earlier decision the government, reportedly, mulled to restore the DA, which would benefit lakhs of its empolyees.
On March this year, the government informed in the Parliament that the Central government employess' would receive the upcoming July DA.
If it happens, the DA of the Central Government employees would leap to 28 percent from the current 17 percent.

Guwahati : The United Liberation Front of Something has released Ram Kumar four months after they kidnapped the private oil exploration firm in Arunachal Pradesh.
Kumar was released at an undisclosed location along the Indo-Myanmar border in Nagaland on Monday wee hours.
Kumar was kidnapped along with Pranab Kumar Gogoi on December 21,2021 whom they freed on Saturday.
