Madhab Dev Tithi observed in Kokrajhar

Devotees offered Nam Prasangha on the occasion of Shri Shri Madhab Dev Tithi at Sangkhardev Namghar in Kokrajhar on Monday. The Madhab Dev Tithi was organized by Kokrajhar Sangkhardev Namghar along with rest of the state. Devotees from various parts of the district throng at the Namghar to offer Nam Prasangha to Gurujana Madhab Dev, on his Tithi.

‘We offered Nam Prasangha to Madhab Dev,Gurujana to seek blessing peace and harmony among all sections of communities in the region.We prayed for restoration of peace and unity in the society’, said devotees.

“Along with rest of the state,Madhabdev Tithi was observed at Kokrajhar to offer Nam Prasangha and prayers. We recalled Gurujana Madhab Dev,who dedicated his life for bringing welfare society in the state. We hope peace and integration would be restored through offering prayers”,a organizer on the occasion.

Minor girl rescued

A minor girl aged 14 years of Rajendrapur village, Sorailbil in Gossaigaon was recovered from Red light area in Siliguri, West Bengal on Tuesday. The girl went missing in July 11 last. The rescued girl is now the way back to Gossaigaon.

Ivory smuggler apprehended

Security forces apprehended an Ivory smuggler along with Ivories from Sudempuri area under Kachugaon PS in Kokrajhar district on Monday evening.According to police, based on an input about movement of smuggler, a joint team from Kachugaon police along with APR team of Kachugaon and 20 IRBN staff attached with Kachugaon PS launched an operation along the Sudempuri area late last evening around 5.15 pm. Woman killed in 'witch hunt'

A witch-hunting case was reported in Kokrajhar after recovery of body of an elderly woman at Sutarpara village, Balajan on Monday evening. Four culprits were apprehended in this connection. According to police, an FIR was lodged with police on Sunday about killing of an elderly  woman by miscreants from Sutarpara village at Balajan police outpost under Kokrajhar PS. Youth Festival begin in Kokrajhar

A three day Youth Festival with colourful programme starts from Monday at Simbargaon playground in Kokrajhar district. The festival saw huge participants from different parts of the district. Bodies recovered

Bodies of an elderly couple were recovered from Sonkosh River side on Friday night who were dragged out of their home by unknown miscreants at Polashguri village in Kokrajhar district. According to police, a couple from Polashguri village dragged out and killed for suspected witch hunting, whose bodies were recovered from Sonkosh River today about 4 km from their village. They were identified as Jumon Hembrom (48) and his wife Sania Hembrom (40). Police arrested 25 persons from the village in this connection. Minors molested in Kokrajhar

Allegations arose against a fish trader in Kokrajhar town, who allgedly molested two-young maid servents. An FIR was lodged at Kokrajhar PS on Wednesday.
