Sujit Narzary Inter-District football championship begins

The 9th edition Sujit Narzary All Assam Inter District U-13(boys) football championship 2016-17 has been begins from Saturday at KDSA ground in Kokrajhar.

In the inaugural match Chirang DSA beat Nalbari DSA 3-0, was organized by Kokrajhar District Sports Association(KDSA) for Kokrajhar zonal.The league matches of the championship being organized in four zonal across the state, which included Kokrajhar,Lakhipur(Silchar),Dhemaji and Karbi Anglong. A total of 13 teams are participating in the Kokrajhar zonal.

BTC executive member Doneswar Goyary graced as chief guest on the inaugural.Goyary,in his speech said that championship has been organized every year in memory of Sujit Narzary,who is first martyr of the Bodoland movement.The championship has been creating sporting encouragement among budding sports persons in the state.

Hemendra Nath Brahma,president of Assam Football Association while attending the occasion said it is an noble venture from AFA and KDSA to organize Under-13 football championship for the state in memory of Sujit Narzary,first martyr and footballer in his school days during eighties. He has expressed his hopeful that this championship will create good encouragement to haunt sports talents in the state.

Earlier, Rajib Brahma, BTC executive member and president KDSA and Pradip Dey, AFA executive member hoisted KDSA flag and AFA flags respectively.Mangalsing Narzary,father of Sujit Narzary paid floral tribute to the portrait of Sujit.
