Children drama workshop held in Golaghat

A children drama workshop was organized by Sisur Umola Chora at Golaghat town from July 6 to 26, 2008. The workshop was attended by noted drama personality of Assam, Sri Gunakar Deva Goswami. About 46 children participated in the workshop. As told by Jafrul Imtiaz of Sisur Umola Chora, this workshop was fourth of its kind. He further told that they also organized a Satriya dance workshop earlier. Sisur Umola Chora is trying to infuse the children with the rich culture and heritage of our folk culture, he added.

On July 26 the children participated in the workshop staged two plays named “BHOI” and “NO”. Bhoi was based on tales of Panchatantra. It was scripted and directed by Gunakar Deva Goswami. It is to be mention here that the play “BHOI” was staged with help of body language expressed by the artists without using any props. The other play “NO” was scripted by Naren Patgiri and it was directed by Gunakar Deva Goswami. Both these plays were highly acclaimed by the audience.

A verbal quarrel between two petty traders at Naojan, along the Assam-Nagaland border took a grim turn when one of them named Ranjan Ali took out a .22 bore revolver and fired two rounds at Prasanta Bhuyan. A forest guard of world famed Kaziranga National Park (KNP) has been critically injured in a rhino attack inside the park.
